Too
Many Feathers - Educational
Programs
Several
educational programs are available for elementary middle
and high school students.
I describe the processes and show examples of what is
involved in writing and illustrating a picture book.
This includes: An idea, the step-by-step development
of the manuscript, preliminary sketches, storyboards,
and the printing of the book. I end with a question
and answer session.
Example of a Pre-K through 2nd grade presentation
A puppet of the main character greets the students.
I read the story from a large screen or Smartboard.
The students and I both read the story together. Description
of the writing and illustrating process is discussed,
followed by a question and answer session. A closure
experienced art project is completed at that time or
brought back to the classroom.
